pointing others to good

The Prophet ﷺ said, “whoever shows others a good deed will get a reward like the one who does it.” (HR. Muslim 1893 from Abu Mas’ud Al-Anshari) “whoever invites to guidance will get the same reward as the one who follows it, without any reduction in their reward.” (HR. Muslim 2674 from Abu Hurairah)

Helping someone find a good deed is a kind of help for that person. It becomes a way for them to reach that good. The reward depends on what you're guiding them to.

So if you guide someone to a great act of worship, that’s the best kind of guidance. If you guide them to something even more important, like faith, then that’s the most valuable kind of help. Showing the way to good is one of the best things you can do.
